Vehicle puts businessmen in fast lane

Most cars are made to keep traffic moving. 

Two Dover men have one they hope stops traffic. 

Danny Aguilar and Bill Hickox own the white Pontiac Pontiac Grand Prix limousine that’s been riding local roads since Oct. 10.

With the number 55 emblazoned on its door, stockcar-like stickers on its hood and fenders, a spoiler in the back and even a faux quick fill gas cap, the car is decked out to look like a Monster Mile competitor.

Only thing is , it’s a tad longer, more luxurious, fits 10 passengers instead of one driver and has a bar in the back.

At 26 feet, 4 inches longer than a regular Grand Prix-it’s the longest Pontiac Grand Prix limousine in the world, Mr. Hickox said.

“The record was 26 feet until this one was built”, he said.

The two men had the oversized vehicle built in hopes of making big profits, by using it as the first in what they hope will turn into a fleet of NASCAR-themed luxury limousines.

With a protected sales zone covering the entire state, this is the first of several cars they intend to buy.

“We bought a regular Grand Prix and sent it to Missouri,” Mr. Hickox said.  “They cut it in half, set it apart and extended it.”

“We hope to have a Ford, a Chevrolet, and even a Craftsman Truck,” Mr. Hickox said.

The white limo, which cost the two men about $100,000, is available for weddings, proms, dances, and other events.

Since they started driving around town they have caused a commotion everywhere they have gone, Mr. Aguilar said.

“It just draws people out,” he said.  “When they see it they want to come out and look at it.”

With its phone number and Internet Web site stenciled on the side, the car is already being booked for formals and weddings, Mr. Hickox said.

Though business is already brisk, the two men have no intention of driving the vehicle.  They have already hired chauffeurs to do that.

Booking the car costs between $100 and $120 an hour, with special packages available.
